One of my goals for this pregnancy is to be active and get outdoors this summer. My first pregnancy, over five years ago, I was not an active individual and I paid the price come labor time. I am not a big fan of the gym, nor do I enjoy spending hours at the gym. Going on hikes, experiencing phenomenal views, and enjoying the good company of my family and friends is a little more up my alley for activity levels. Thankfully, I live in the Pacific Northwest and am only a 20 minute drive to a number of hiking trails within the Gorge.
A few weeks ago, a dear friend of mine, Rachel Peterson, invited Sloan and I out for an early morning hike and the day did not disappoint. Rachel, who happens to be an incredible photographer, took photos throughout our adventure. Be sure to stop by her website here.
See what I mean? It was a short 1/2 mile hike through the woods, and snow. Yes – it was 80 degrees out that day but beneath the cover of the trees there were spots of snow! From Portland, OR do expect to drive around an hour and 1/2 to get to the trailhead. I would say this hike is family friendly – however, when you get out of the woods, the trail narrows and it is a very steep drop. If you are interested in more information and directions to the trailhead visit here.
All three of us had cameras for our adventure. I was immediately grateful that I had thought to brought my Instax camera. Sloan, who told us she wants to be a photographer when she grows up, was really getting into the surroundings around her and wanted to photograph every little thing she found fascinating. Not only did she have a good idea, she was incredibly bossy behind the camera telling us how to “pose” for the photos! It was great!Where there is snow — there are snow ball fights 🙂
